Meet the Teacher

My Role: I am very excited to be back teaching Grade 5A at St. John Bosco for the 2023-2024 school year! I am committed to  inquiry based learning that is engaging and growing in the faith with students and staff.

This is my seventh year as an educator in Edmonton Catholic Schools. I feel truly blessed with this amazing opportunity to share and serve in the SJB school community.

My Mission: My mission is to grow as a teacher through collaboration with students, staff, parents, and the parish community. I am inspired by my mentors and encouraged to not only have my students think critically and communicate their own God given gifts, but to share my own creative talents and ideas to better serve our school community.

My Education: I graduated from Archbishop O’Leary High School and completed a Science Degree in Psychology and Biology at the University of Alberta. After finishing this degree, I completed an Education degree as I am passionate about lifelong learning. My goal is to continue to learn and grow with my students, as well as, challenge myself to continue to grow professionally.

My Teaching Experiences: I have a number of teaching experiences. I taught 3 years at St. John Bosco Catholic Elementary School in Grade 4 and Grade 4/5 online, and previously, St. Lucy Grade 4 and St.Vladimir Grade 5. Most recently, I was as a full time Grade 1 teacher last year at St. Maria Goretti. I also did practicums at St. Edmund’s IB School Program and at St. Teresa of Calcutta, an inner-city school, as well as, being a substitute teacher in ECSD, teaching anything from 100 Voices (Pre-K) to Grade 9 Science. I am excited to serve at SJB again! All of these experiences have taught me so much about what it means to serve a school community and love what you do in the process. I strive to do my personal best this year in learning and growing with my students and staff. I am inspired by my students to serve their needs and offer support on their own learning journeys.

Outside of School:

Having amazing support outside of school is invaluable. Both of my parents are educators with 30+ years of experience each. My mom is a principal within the district and is my role model of what it means to be a reflective teacher by making meaningful connections, caring, and shaping the lives of those around me. I also have three brothers, Kyle, Mark, and Darrin that value education and are on their own educational pursuits in teaching, in the medical profession, and in carpentry. I find balance in my life with extracurricular activities such as golfing and curling with my family, and going on long walks with my dog Brick. I encourage my students to embrace what makes their hearts light up with joy, and mine is with my family.

I hope we have a fabulous year together!
